Advanced Open Water Diver
The PADI Advanced Open Water course is designed to further develop your diving skills and confidence underwater.
A PADI Instructor will guide you through an informative classroom and pool session, followed by skill application during five open water specialty dives. This certification prepares you for the Rescue Diver certification and allows you to safely dive a wider array of unique sites.
The Experience
The Advanced Open Water program consists of two phases:

Step 1: Training
- Read your Adventures in Diving and How to Use and Choose Dive Computers manuals and complete the Chapter Reviews at the end of each chapter before coming into class. (You won’t need the How to Use and Choose Dive Computers manual if you own a dive computer).
- Next, you’ll attend a short classroom session that will elaborate on 5 specialty dives and help you “tune-up” your diving skills. This will provide you with a thorough briefing about your upcoming dives and let you in on some of the secrets that will make those dives safer, more interesting, and more fun!
Step 2: Certification
- To finish your certification you’ll make 5 Open Water dives which include a Deep Dive, Navigation Dive, and three additional specialty dives (usually Buoyancy, Multi-level dive, and Search/Recovery dive).
