Gerhard Morell
Gerhard started diving for some of the same reasons that most people do. It was something he always wanted to try. Once he did, it was love at first dive. He spent about 5 years diving every placehe could think of and afford to go to. It was then that he thought that having some additional certifications would add to his safety. Before long he was an instructor, and found that it allowed him the opportunity to share his passion for diving with other people.
His other big interest in life is history, and it wasn’t long before the two interests started feeding one another. Since he started diving, he’s witnessed firsthand some of the horrors of the middle passage while sitting in Caribbean slave huts, and learned much about WWII in Palau and Micronesia. He’s also learned a great deal about the environment by learning about the reefs of the world. He says “it seems the more I learn the more there is to learn”.
When he’s not diving, figuring out where he’s going to dive next, or helping nurture other people’s passion for diving, he has worked in the real estate industry in various capacities for over 15 years, as a realtor, appraiser, and developer.
Gerhard lives in Greeley with his dive buddy and wife, Kris, and a host of cats and dogs. When he’s not directly involved with all of the above, he is associated with the Humane Society, and has adopted animals through them.
