Jeff got his first taste of scuba diving while on vacation in Akumal, Mex. The local dive shop, Dive Center Akumal,was offering “resort dives” to the tourists. He signed up, spent 30 minutes in a classroom, 30 minutes in a pool learning a few skills and then took off for his first underwater dive to 35 ft with an instructor. He was hooked for life! In less than two years, he earned his Open Water Instructor’s certification and is currently rated as a Master Scuba Diver Trainer (MSDT). Jeff has two passions in life, scuba diving and motorcycling. Harley’s of course!

Jeff’s favorite place to dive is Cozumel, because of its terrific reef system, warm water, and great visibility. He has scuba dived the Channel Islands off California from a live-aboard, boat and shore dove the waters off of Mexico, Roatan, Belize, Florida and the Keys. The coldest water he has been in was at Perch Lake in New Mexico. The water temperature was 35 degree Fahrenheit. He certainly appreciated his dry suit certification on that dive!

The greatest satisfaction Jeff has had as an instructor came from working with quadriplegic and paraplegic patients from the Craig Rehabilitation Institute in Denver helping with a Discovery Scuba Program specifically designed for them. “Volunteering in that program gave me a whole need perspective on the awesome freedom scuba diving affords everyone.” “To see the smiles on the patients faces and hear the excitement in their voices as they talked about being “free” from their confines, was beyond priceless!”
