Tom McMillen

After watching the TV series Sea Hunt when he was little, Tom always wanted to try scuba diving. In the late 1990’s he finally got his opportunity when he received his Open Water Certification. Two years later Tom became a scuba instructor and is one of our Master Scuba Diver Trainers (MSDT). When he’s not diving, Tom enjoys golf, fly fishing, photography, biking, hiking, snow skiing and traveling.

Tom makes a point to dive some incredible locations. His favorite place to dive is Monterey Bay, California. When asked to describe an incredible dive moment he remembers a special dive while in Costa Rica. There he encountered a whale shark – these majestic fish can grow up to 60 feet long!

Out of the many classes Tom has taken, he most enjoyed the Dive Master program. Tom says, “Dive Master is by far the most challenging class I have taken. It really stretches your skills and builds the confidence you need to deal with any underwater experience.” As a MSDT, Tom now teaches all classes up through the Dive Master program, including Open Water, Advanced Open Water, Rescue Diver, Emergency First Response, Enriched Air Nitrox and a variety of Specialty courses here at Alpine Scuba.

Side note: Google Sea Hunt if you are under the age of 40 and see why Tom got hooked on scuba!
